The Rev. Jennifer S. Michael
Pastor
With a deeply personal witness to a theology of the cross, Pastor Jennifer believes God has called her to lead this church in proclamation, testimony, and daily living. She is committed to living out that call in every way she can, so that it might illuminate the power of the Gospel for others.
About Pastor Jennifer
The Rev. Jennifer S. Michael served in her first call as pastor of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Michigan, from 2017 to 2021. Before that call, she served in many lay leadership roles for more than 20 years, including on church council and synodical boards, and as Churchwide President of Women of the ELCA from 2011 to 2014. Her most recent call prior to Grace was at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
A native of Pensacola, Florida, Rev. Michael completed her undergraduate degree in Communications at Kaplan University and her Master of Divinity at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. Coming from a family of four girls, with parents who fostered a strong image of how women shape the world, her favorite thing to say is that she is one of those women who puts the “G-r-r in GIRL!”
Beyond her work at Grace, she serves on the Florida-Bahamas Synod Worship Committee and as part of the Region 9 Women in Ministry Task Force. She is grateful for the support of her mother, Carolyn, and her three sisters — Amanda, Lauren, and Susannah — who keep her grounded.
When she isn’t at the church, she enjoys live performances and reading pop-fiction, thrillers, and mysteries. On fine days, you’ll often find her walking her pugs, Raisin and Raspberry, in the sunshine. Travel is a delight for her, and she truly enjoys meeting new people.
